About Me

Hey! My name’s Nadine, I ‘m a highly-qualified native French teacher from Marseille, in the South of France.

After real-world business experiences for international firms, I decided to involve myself entirely in the teaching of my native language, so I took the Alliance Française Diploma (DAEFLE). I have been teaching French for about 8 years. I have worked with students from beginners to advanced levels in a wide range of settings including language schools (Alliance Française, Berlitz), universities (Université d’Aix-Marseille), companies (Gemalto), public institutions and online.

I truly love my job since I really enjoy meeting and working with people from other backgrounds and cultures. I’m also known for being a great listener and clear communicator. As a language learner myself, It’s a real pleasure for me to understand each person’s difficulty in learning French and customize my lessons accordingly.

I’ve always demonstrated an international frame of mind through my professional experiences and foreign languages have always been my passion. I have spent most of my lifetime studying different foreign languages (German, Italian, Chinese) and searching for the fastest and most effective ways of learning them. The bottomline is that when you learn a language, you need a guide, who will support you while you take the necessary steps towards learning to speak a new language. This mentor must be someone who shares your fears, anxieties, and failures as well as your accomplishments and success.

How should you choose your French teacher ?

I can tell you from experience that there are a lot of people and language schools out there that claim they can give French lessons, but they can’t.

Always be aware that a native speaker is not the same thing as an experienced and officially qualified teacher. Knowing something doesn’t mean you can teach it. One thing is knowing how to speak French. Another thing is :

• knowing grammar
• knowing how to explain it
• knowing when to correct the student
• explaining mistakes clearly
• offering a structured approach to learning
• exposing French learners to the complexity and beauty of the language using the right (and effective) tools and methods
• knowing what you’re going through
• focus on what matters
• mastering the language you speak (especially if you’re a beginner)
• making you feel confident and be good at getting you to speak a new language

These are not skills that everybody has. No matter how well they speak their own language. Teachers should always be qualified.

Besides, teaching is incredibly rewarding but is also hard, students can be challenging, the job can affect you in ways you never expected. Qualified teachers are prepared for this.

So what should you do before committing to a large number of lessons and avoid bad deals ?

• Always check that your teacher has official accreditations and qualifications. This is your best guarantee for excellent French teaching and services. Some French language schools in France and online employ teachers that are not fully qualified, and/or not experienced, or teachers to be, still in their studies. So always look if you can find information about qualifications and experience of teachers. Teachers need to be fully qualified and have the necessary personal skills.
• make sure the price they charge is commensurate with their teaching abilities and qualifications.

I am DAEFLE (The professional diploma in French as a Foreign Language devised by the Alliance Française de Paris Ile-de-France) certified with over 8 years teaching experience, and I’m also a certified examiner by the CIEP (which is an institution of the French Ministry of National Education) for all the levels of DELF/DALF.

And I got the certificate from the Chambre de Commerce Paris Ile-de-France that certifies I can be part of a TEF jury so I know the terms and goals of this test and I can help you train yourself to get the maximum grade.

Because I know that teaching is so much more than standing in front of a class/student/computer and knowing stuff, I’ve earned 2 official professional credentials in the field of teaching and assessing French as a Foreign Language to make sure you will make the most of your French language learning journey.
